| Teasing is a universal problem, and it cannot be completely prevented. Although children are unable to control what others say, they can learn to control their own responses and reactions, which will "ease the tease." Parents can teach kids simple strategies that will empower them and reduce feelings of helplessness. When children realize that there are effective strategies that they can use in teasing situations, their coping skills are strengthened. The 1 1/2-hour parent presentation addresses: * Types of teasing vs. bullying * What kids are teased about * Reactions to teasing * Why kids tease * The 10 strategies * Suggestions for parents of teasees and teasers * Questions and answers Consultations also are offered for parents and children and small groups.
